Christmas

My last christmas in California! oh how bittersweet! These past two days have basically been spent watching Doctor Who marathons on BBC America, and literally watching nothing else. Christmas morning, on the other hand, was fun, I got lots of gifts, mainly more dresses (eeeek!) but I also got some more interesting things.
The best gift by far was my 11th Doctor Sonic Screwdriver!

Mom got me a red beret

I finally got Rushmore on DVD and Rachel Getting Married (mom and I saw that in a super indie hole in a wall theater back when it was in theaters)

A portable hard drive to store all my movies/tv shows

My very own tea cup!

I really love playing with my sonic!

On thursday I saw Midnight in Paris for the first time. Oh boy how I love that movie! Gil, the main character, is so relatable to! He's a writer (check), he wishes he was born in a different time (check) and he believes to be a writer one has to spend their time in europe (check). Although I wish I was alive in swinging London aka London in the sixties, I felt so connected to the main character. It was a great movie, it has F. Scott Fitzgerald! Obviously not the real one, but still, I love me some F. Scott!

Then on Friday, while watching BBC America as always, there were two documentaries on the Beatles. Oh how I love the Beatles! Aside from their music they are such big pop culture icons and big influences in the 1960s. It got me to desire even more how much I would love to live back then, fashion was so wonderful, everything was so new (pop culture, music, ideas) I wish people were still as idealistic and enthusiastic about life like they once were.

Anyway, here are some of my 1960s faves.
my main man and the only person whose face I'd ever consider getting tattooed on me: Bob Dylan!

Lazy Christmas

This past week has been filled with boring school days and only 2 finals out of 6 classes. I got straight As this semester, so I'm not complaining much ha. One of the most interesting parts of this week was that I found out I was allergic to molasses. One wednesday Lindsay, my favorite "bff" teacher, gave me a chocolate with molasses in it and when I got home an hour later I was covered in hives and my lips were swollen, the itchiness sucked but it was so fun. I never knew I was allergic to anything except for dairy, so it was a great experience, as weird as that sounds. On friday I went with Steven to Rowland Heights to hang out with Karen. I gave each of them their presents, which I hope each of them liked because I spent very much time on each of them.

I didn't take any pictures of the presents but I did take pictures of the cards that I made in one of my classes. Their presents, cards, and wrapping paper were all themed from their favorite things.

I am not on winter break, which I am so happy about! 2012 is so close. I'm so close to getting out of here.

I've been on a Wes Anderson bender lately (he's my favorite director and his movie are endless sources of inspiration to me) so I've decided to make this a themed favorite finds.

I can't wait until he releases a new one...
whenever that may be.

Pioneer

My absolute favorite CD of the year is Pioneer. The Maine have matured so much as a band and it's insane to listen to Pioneer and believe that they have released something like The Way We Talk. Not that that CD is bad, it's just very generic stuff that came out during that time in music. Now I feel like their music is much more focused on instrumentation and broader topics when it comes to the lyrics. I'm so glad they released this CD independently because their label refused to because it's a complete representation of them, no outside influences, just The Maine.

My favorite song is by far When I'm At Home, it highlights Jared's amazing guitar skills and it's change in dynamics from the verses to the chorus are so addicting to listen to.

Guilty Pleasure: One Direction

I currently have my foot in my mouth, after talking so much shit on how stupid boy bands are I've recently become obsessed with one. I blame it on a combination of tumblr, Karen, and their kick-ass style.

The Maine Presents: Pioneer + miscellaneous

On monday I went to go see The Maine with Ana. It was wonderful, the venue was awkwardly shaped and the Hollywood crowd was really boring and more preoccupied with looking cool then actually having fun, but it was a great experience. Pioneer is going to be a great record and I can't wait until it comes out!
The Roxy has the WORST lighting of any venue I've ever been to, so black and white makes my photo look less crappy.

Fried Egg

On friday my best friend and I went to Diamond Bar to visit Karen for her school's dance concert. We got to explore her school, which is so giant and so pretty! And then as we walked around Diamond Bar we happened to come upon Danielle and Sarah as we made our way back from H-Mart. Those girls are so wild, I felt like such a grandmother sometimes. The concert was really good, I enjoyed every single dance and the boys group were mesmerizing! Karen also did a fantastic job and made me so proud of her. It was a really fantastic day.

Karen's camera also happens to catch me at the worst moments.

Experience

There's nothing better than sitting in my room with a full cup of english breakfast and a notebook full of ideas ready to be put into my laptop. Too bad I'm sitting here, reading that notebook and am unhappy about what I'm reading. At school I carry around a notebook that I write in during class, usually outlining a chapter to the story I'm writing or sketching out scenes/scenarios for that story. Lately I've been feeling my writing has become really... boring. I read it and it doesn't seem believable. I have such little life experience the things I'm writing about don't feel authentic because I either haven't experienced those scenarios in a long, long time or I've just never experienced them. It's really sad to think of, especially because I don't know how to fix it.

My favorite man ever.

It's no secret how much Andrew Mcmahon inspires me and how much I love Jack's Mannequin. Last night I got to meet him for the second time. We barely got to say a few words to each other but it was wonderful. I can't wait until next time.
